Binoculars

One of the best investments I made was buying my Orion 9x63 Mini-Giants binoculars. Very large wide view with 9 power. Just large enough to use without needing a tripod. Clear crisp wide angle views. Just what I need to observe the sky on those nights I don't have time to setup the observatory.

This is my wife Beth's binoculars mounted on a parallelogram. The advantage of this is it keeps the object in the binos even when you raise or lower them. Great for star parties when you have kids and aldults of different heights. Her binoculars are Barska brand 15x70. Very nice view for the price, about $70.00. Well worth looking into buying this brand for a starter. They are large and heavy so you will need a mount to keep them steady. The mount is a Blaho Steady-Vu and the tripod is a Bogan 3046. This makes for a sturdy mount. This system is very easy to use.

As one would figure, apature fever has hit her also. She has now bought her own scope, an Orion 10" dobsonion.
